502 Sessions featuring The Nate Aronow Nextet
A veteran of the Boston club circuit, Nate Aronow started and led the horn/funk band Landlords of Soul, for whom he wrote, arranged and played. Over the last ten years, Nate has had a number of original and cover bands such as The Jazz Avengers, The Companions, The Nate Aronow Quintet, and now the Nate Aronow Nextet. Nate’s original music has made quite a splash on Broadjam.com, where TEN tunes from “Hearing Things” and “Best of the Landlords of Soul” made the Broadjam Top Ten charts in several categories.
The Nate Aronow Nextet is into variety, and the band’s original music consistently spans the contemporary progressive spectrum. The band’s philosophy is that good music should be able to capture the listener at all levels: the intellectual, the aesthetic and the emotional. The Nextet continually gets a positive response from audiences of all musical persuasions.
The Nextet has played venues in the Eastern Mass. such as Ryles Jazz Club, Slades Bar & Grill, the Shaw’s Center in Brockton, area colleges including MIT, Harvard and Northeastern, restaurants, corporate events, and festivals such as the Newton Jazz Festival. In 2007 three original tracks were included on two different Sony/BMG releases in Europe called “Hot Salsa” and “The 2nd Smooth Jazz Avenue.” The band has also performed for live broadcast on local cable television stations and on WERS-FM radio. The band’s music video “Bikin’ the Bike” is on YouTube, and in 2010 was featured at the Boston Bike Film Festival at the Brattle Theatre in Cambridge.
